1. The service

MDtoDOCX converts Markdown and related formats into Word (.docx), PDF and HTML documents, and converts Word, HTML and text into Markdown. Free features run in your browser. Some Pro features and the API run on our servers. The current feature list and prices are on the pricing page, which forms part of these terms.

2. Accounts

You do not need an account to use the free features. An account is created when you buy a plan or sign in. You must provide a working email address, keep it current, and not share your sign-in with others. A paid plan may be used on up to three signed-in devices at once. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend an account that we reasonably believe is being shared, resold or used to abuse the service, after notice where practical.

3. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the website, web app, extension and API in accordance with these terms and your plan. The software, its design and its content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, rent, sell or create derivative works of the service except as the law expressly permits. Third-party open-source components included in the software are licensed under their own terms, listed in the extension's and app's about screens.

4. Your content

You keep all rights to the documents you convert. For free conversions we never receive your content. For Pro server features and the API you grant us a limited licence to receive, process and return your content solely to perform the conversion you requested; that licence ends when the content is deleted, which happens within 24 hours. You are responsible for having the rights to convert whatever you submit and for the output you create.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the service to produce or distribute content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory or malicious;
• upload files containing malware or designed to exploit the rendering servers;
• scrape, crawl or bulk-download the website beyond what search engines ordinarily do, or use the free converter through automation as a substitute for the API;
• circumvent plan limits, device limits or Pro feature gates, or share an account or API key with people outside your plan;
• resell or white-label the service without a written agreement with us;
• interfere with the service's operation or with other users' access to it.

We may throttle, suspend or terminate access that violates this section.

6. Plans, billing and renewal

• 7-Day Pass: a one-time payment that unlocks all Pro features for 7 days from purchase. It does not renew.
• Pro monthly and Pro yearly: subscriptions that renew automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price until cancelled. We will email you at least 14 days before a price change takes effect on your renewal.
• Lifetime: defined in section 8.
• API: billed per volume of conversions as stated at purchase; unused volume does not carry over beyond the stated period.

Prices are in US dollars and exclude taxes, which are added at checkout where required. Payment is processed by our payment service provider under its own terms. If a payment fails we will retry and notify you; if it still fails after 7 days the plan reverts to Free until payment succeeds. You may cancel a subscription at any time from the account page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period and you keep Pro until then.

7. Refunds: 7 days, no questions asked

You may request a full refund of any purchase (Pass, Pro monthly, Pro yearly, Lifetime, or an API package) within 7 days of the payment, for any reason, by emailing [email protected] from the account's email address. We issue the refund to the original payment method within 5 business days and the plan ends when the refund is issued. After 7 days, subscription payments are non-refundable, except where the law of your country requires otherwise or where the service was unavailable for a material part of the period, in which case we will refund pro rata. Renewal payments are covered by the same 7-day window counted from the renewal date.

8. Lifetime plan

"Lifetime" means the lifetime of the MDtoDOCX service, not of the purchaser. A Lifetime purchase grants one account all features included in the Pro plan, including Pro features added in the future, for as long as we operate MDtoDOCX, with no further payment. It does not include API usage, team seats or features that we clearly label as separate products. It is tied to one account, may be used on up to three signed-in devices, and may not be transferred or resold. If we discontinue MDtoDOCX, we will give Lifetime holders at least 90 days' notice and, where the discontinuation occurs within 24 months of purchase, a pro-rata refund based on a 24-month term. The Lifetime plan is offered for a limited period after launch and may be withdrawn or repriced for new buyers at any time; existing holders are unaffected.

9. Availability and changes to the service

We aim for the service to be available at all times but do not guarantee it. We may change, add or remove features, and may change the boundary between Free and Pro for future purchases; we will not remove a Pro feature from a plan you have already paid for during its current period without offering a refund for that period. Free features are provided as a courtesy and may be changed or rate-limited.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and that the output will be error-free. Conversion of any format to another is inherently lossy in places; you are responsible for checking a converted document before relying on it or submitting it to anyone.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, business or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $50 if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or the statutory rights of consumers in your country.

12. Indemnity

You will indemnify us against claims by third parties arising from content you submit to the service or from your breach of section 5, to the extent permitted by the consumer law that applies to you.

13. Termination

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time from the account page. We may terminate or suspend your access if you materially breach these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service, with notice as described in sections 8 and 9. Sections 3, 4, 10 to 12 and 15 survive termination.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version is always at mdtodocx.work/terms with its effective date. For changes that materially reduce your rights, we will email account holders at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new terms; if you do not, you may cancel and request a pro-rata refund of any prepaid period.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction to be confirmed before launch], without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers in the EU, UK and other countries with mandatory consumer-protection rules keep the protection of, and the right to bring claims in, their country of residence. Before going to court, both sides agree to try to resolve any dispute by email within 30 days.

16. General

These terms, the pricing page and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the service. If any provision is found unenforceable the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them to a successor that takes over the service.
